As part of the EARTHONE project’s activities in Spain, the team from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) carried out a technical visit to the Tablas de Daimiel National Park on 26 May 2025. The main objective was to meet with the park’s director, Carlos Ruiz de la Hermosa, and finalise the definition of study regions for the local pilot.

The meeting focused on identifying specific research zones and clarifying key points for the collaboration between UPM and the park administration. A walk through selected areas of the park, including potential sensor locations and the wetland zone, provided a practical basis for decision-making.

As a result of the visit, both the study areas and the terms of the research agreement were confirmed. The research plan has been officially approved by the Autonomous National Parks Agency (Organismo Autónomo de Parques Nacionales), granting EARTHONE permission to conduct activities within this protected area.

These steps mark a key advance in the preparation of the Spanish pilot, ensuring that the project’s actions are aligned with local priorities and environmental regulations.
